Assigning multiple trucks to a job
Put more than one truck on a job, set the primary, and assign crew per truck.
A big move can take more than one truck. VanMan supports that properly — with one wrinkle worth knowing up front.
Assigning them
On the job form, trucks are chips: hold ⇧ or ⌘ and click to select several.
On an existing job, use Add truck on the job page. Each truck shows as a badge with its colour, and a small bin icon to remove it.
When converting a booking, the Trucks field is a checkbox list — tick as many as you need.
The same truck cannot be added twice.
The primary truck
The first truck you add becomes the primary, marked with a filled amber star. Others show a hollow star — click it to promote them.
The calendar only ever shows the primary truck's colour. A three-truck job looks exactly like a one-truck job on the grid — same single bottom border, same one truck name.
Multi-truck badges exist only on the job page. So if you are scanning a week wondering which jobs are the big ones, the calendar will not tell you. Open the job, or use the Trucks view, where a multi-truck job appears in every assigned truck's column.
Pick the primary deliberately — it is the one your calendar will be colour-coded by.
Crew per truck
Add crew with Add crew, then click a crew member's badge to set:
- Role on job — Leader, Driver, or Offsider.
- On truck — which of the job's trucks they ride.
Their badge then takes that truck's colour, so you can see who is in which vehicle at a glance. On a two-truck job this is the difference between a crew list and a plan.
Conflicts
Adding a truck that is already booked opens the Scheduling Conflict dialog, listing what it clashes with and offering Assign Anyway.
It warns; it never blocks. And note the gaps: there is no conflict check at all on the Create Job form, so booking two trucks into a busy day at creation time gets you no warning whatsoever. Check the calendar after you create it.
Jobs with no end time are also excluded from conflict detection entirely — a multi-truck job with a blank end time can double-book every truck on it silently.
Each truck is checked separately, and a multi-truck job never conflicts with itself.
Two things that are not there
Per-truck start and finish times cannot be set. There is no control for it anywhere in the app. Every truck on a job shares the job's times.
Truck availability does not gate anything. A truck's Weekly Availability will not stop you assigning it outside its hours, and calendar events do not reserve trucks either.
Tutorial: book a two-truck house move
A four-bedroom move needs two vehicles and four crew.
Open the Trucks calendar view on the move date. One column per vehicle — the only place you can see two trucks' availability side by side.
Do this first. The job form will not warn you about a conflict, so this is the check.
On the job form, click Keith, then hold ⇧ and click Atlas. Both chips highlight.
Whichever you clicked first is primary, and its colour is what the whole week will show for this job. Make it the truck you would name if someone asked what is running the job.
Open the job after saving and check the star — click the other truck's hollow star to swap if it landed wrong.
Do not leave the end time blank. Beyond the calendar looking wrong, a job without one is invisible to conflict detection — and on a two-truck job that means two vehicles can be double-booked with no warning at all.
On the job, Add crew for all four people.
Click each crew badge → On truck → assign two to Keith and two to Atlas. Set one Role on job to Leader in each pair.
This is the step that turns four names into two crews. Skip it and your team knows who is working but not who is riding where.
If Atlas is only needed from 10am, you cannot express that — there are no per-truck times. Both trucks carry the job's hours. Either accept it, or split the work into two jobs.
On the week view the job shows a single truck colour — the primary. That is expected, not a bug. To confirm both trucks are committed, use the Trucks view, where it appears in both columns.
The job's Activity tab logs Truck added and Truck removed with the truck's name, so you can see who changed the fleet on a job and when.
